Sucker for Love Date to Die For endings
Date to Die For endings branch at chapter-specific survival and healing decisions. Chapter 1’s key split occurs when Buck attacks: opening the door, waiting without healing Nanni, or healing her leads toward bad, good or true outcomes.
What is the Chapter 1 split?
Game Truth’s walkthrough identifies the Buck attack as the main branch: open the door for the bad outcome, wait and do not heal Nanni for a good outcome, or heal Nanni for the true route and escape cutscene. Save immediately before this choice.
A safe route-recording method
| When to save | What to note | Why it helps |
|---|---|---|
| Chapter start | Chapter number and current keepsakes | Lets you revisit an early branch without losing later progress. |
| Before a dangerous door | Whether you met a cultist and the last ritual room | Separates navigation mistakes from story-choice outcomes. |
| Before Buck / Nanni | Door choice and healing choice | Preserves the documented bad, good and true Chapter 1 branches. |
| Before a chapter-ending ritual | Current keepsakes, rescued characters and route goal | Makes later outcome checks reproducible instead of relying on memory. |
Date to Die For is a four-chapter game with choice-driven endings, so a single early choice should not be presented as the entire ending guide. Record the state of each chapter and treat later route requirements as chapter-specific.
How do later chapters change?
Later chapters add house navigation, keepsakes, cultist encounters and additional ending paths. Destructoid documents separate route sets for Chapters 1 and 2, while full walkthroughs cover all chapters and achievements. Do not assume a Chapter 1 healing choice alone determines the entire game.
If an ending is not the one you expected
- Reload the save immediately before the choice or final ritual rather than a much earlier chapter save.
- Confirm whether the branch was a story decision, a ritual requirement, or a keepsake/survival condition.
- Change one factor and finish the chapter again; this makes the result useful evidence for the next branch.
- Keep Chapter 1, Chapter 2 and later-game advice separate. A guide that does not name its chapter is not enough to trust for a completion run.
Completion advice
- Use jump-scare protection if door checks make navigation difficult.
- Open doors slowly to identify cultists.
- Follow the room star and ritual book.
- Keep saves before Buck attacks and before healing decisions.
- Track keepsakes for later true-route outcomes.
